Decatur Public Schools will replace all classroom furniture this summer, looking to find a new home for the old stuff. We’ll have roughly 800 pieces to get rid of beginning the second week of June. Knowing there’s not much resale value in old furniture, I’d like to offer an invitation to parents, other schools, churches, and the community to come to Decatur and take what they wish. The furniture will be in the high school gym (110 Cedar Street). This event will take place June 9-11, 8:00 AM-3:00 PM. Please park in the high school parking lot or in the lot behind the gym (please do not park on the school lawn) and enter through the main entrance of the high school. We will have classroom desks and chairs, teacher desks and chairs, tables, filing cabinets, and an assortment of other school furniture. Please bring a pad of “sticky notes,” writing your name or name of your organization on each note. When you see an item you like, simply be the first to “stick” your note to hold the item(s). Once you have finished selecting your items, it’s your responsibility to remove them that day. We suggest you bring helpers to remove the furniture. Thank you for your interest, we look forward to seeing you!

Please do not use the Davis Horseshoe Drive before school begins and during the afternoon (2:45-3:15). This is for the safety of the children while the buses are unloading and loading students.
